Alisan Forest Railway-Formosesis

Alisan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office, in order to enrich the service level, strived for funds to build 6 new cypress carriages “Formosensis.”The cypress of “Formosensis” is taken from the alpine forest of Formosa a beautiful treasure island. (Formosa is the name given to the residents of Taiwan in the early European and American world). The scientific name of red cypress is Chamaecyparis formosensis, and the English name is “Formosensis,” which means the forest of blessing. The most beautiful carriage is named “Formosensis, and it is also hoped that passengers who take the “Formosensis” can have the feeling of “snatch a little leisure from a busy life.”The 6 cypress carriages are made of steel frame, and domestic materials red cypress and Taiwan cypress. The interior of the carriage is equipped with multi-scene mode indirect lighting, which can be set according to different environments.

Cypress wood is used for the carriages’ roofs, floors, walls, desks and armrests. The carriages would feature large windows in black-and-red frames, which are typical for trains serving the scenic route. The cars’ ergonomic bucket seats have high-elasticity foam bodies lined with stitched leather, which are comfortable and visually striking.

Formosensis adopts Liteputer lighting control system. Each cypress cabin is installed with EDX-F05D and EDX-F04R according to the lighting requirements. EDX-F05D is a 0-10V dimmer to control the on-site LED strips and LED light panels. EDX-F04R is a TRIAC dimmer, which controls the wall lamps and down lights. In addition, the locomotive is equipped with central controller DP-NEX2, a light control panel ECP-305 and a light sensor. When the light sensor detects that the train enters or exists the tunnel, the lighting scene will change accordingly.
